The Spaces for Souls Collective

Vision

We are a spatial justice initiative serving as a digital collaborative platform to produce scholarship, facilitate and convene on spatial justice topics, and explore spatial justice practice through justice-centered community projects and programming. The Spaces for Souls Collective seeks to promote the expansion of spatial justice thought and action through the engagement of urban, regional, and community planning (and planning-adjacent) professionals and students.

About the Collective

The Spaces for Souls Collective seeks to provide community and professional development opportunities for fellow spatial justice and inclusion advocates by facilitating connections both among Collective Members, as well as between the Collective and partner organizations.

The Spaces for Souls Collective intends to

  • Elucidate the multi- and inter-disciplinary linkages between urban planning, social justice, and other sectors including food, peace, climate, transportation, environment, etc.

  • Cultivate a community of planning(-adjacent) students and professionals through social and thought leadership events;

  • Facilitate Collective Member participation in professional development assignments through local and global organizations in need of relevant pro bono support;

  • Develop an expanded online portfolio of spatial justice and inclusion thought by Collective Members through portfolio posts, social media posts, and blog posts; and

  • Liaise with other practitioners, creating a community of learning, peer support, and catalyst for ideas that advance the journey towards liberation in broader urban and regional planning practice.
